Language & Communication

We value bilingual early education. English is the primary language used in all areas of our preschool, both indoors and outdoors. As a school based in Indonesia, we also incorporate Indonesian language elements—such as songs and basic vocabulary—into our daily routines, enhancing cultural awareness and inclusivity. All our educators are required to communicate in English, ensuring consistency in language development.

Our curriculum is based on the British EYFS framework, a well-established approach to early childhood education. From 6 months to 6 years, we support children’s natural growth through a rich blend of play, discovery, and hands-on experiences across seven core learning areas.

1. Personal, Social & Emotional Development

Building confidence, empathy, and emotional understanding starts early. Through guided play and social interaction, children at UKC learn to express themselves, form friendships, and understand their emotions. These foundational skills help them become secure, resilient, and emotionally intelligent learners.

2. Communication & Language

From storytelling to songs and open conversation, our immersive English-language environment encourages children to express themselves clearly and confidently. By engaging in rich verbal exchanges, they develop essential speaking, listening, and comprehension skills that support lifelong learning and literacy.

3. Physical Development

Movement is key to early learning. We help children strengthen both gross motor skills—such as jumping, running, and balancing—and fine motor skills used for activities like writing, cutting, and self-care. Our indoor and outdoor activities promote health, coordination, and body awareness in fun and playful ways.

4. Literacy

A love for reading starts young. Our children are introduced to phonics, letter recognition, and storytelling in engaging and age-appropriate ways. We build early literacy skills through engaging activities that incorporate books, language games, and creative expression, laying the foundation for confident reading and writing.

5. Mathematics

Numbers come alive through play. Children explore concepts like counting, patterns, shapes, and measurements through hands-on learning, games, building blocks, and nature-based activities.
